*.INI PARAMETERS
The Hotfix Mod and the Aranna Legacy mod are supporting additional options (widely identical for both mods), you could add them in the
DungeonSiege2(BrokenWorld).ini file (it's next to your savegames) or append them at the end of the command line of your DS2 shortcut.
Both mods are tuned/tested for the current option defaults, however you probably prefer to influence yourself some of the corresponding features.
Besides of the custom parameters/options listed below there are also
native game parameters
,
the v2.2 update will also feature the
max_save_backups
option to define the number of savegame backups.
DIFFICULTY/RULES:
- difficulty = 100
Value range 50-500, 100 means normal difficulty. 50 will make the game notably easier, with 500 it becomes quite dangerous.
- difficulty_pet = 100
Value range 50-500, 100 means normal difficulty related on pets exclusively, so any custom value (expect of 100) will ignore the 'difficulty' setting and use 'difficulty_pet' for pets. 50 will make the game notably easier for pets, with 500 pets will suffer a hard time.
- difficulty_mode_ratio = 10
Value range is 1-100 to define how much harder veteran mode will be compared to mercenary resp. elite compared to veteran. Mutliplayer is considered as further 'difficulty mode' compared to Singleplayer.
The option has been added in meaning of a game fix because the many player consider mercenary mode as harder than veteran and even elite mode.
Note that for the Aranna Legacy mod the default is 5 since the addon/v2.3 is natively some more balanced.
- power_rebalance = 0
Value range 1-90 to specify a percentage that increases the power damage against bosses while decreasing the power damage against normal monsters.
- buff_limit = 2
Accepts 1, 2 (default) or 3 to let you customize the allowed number of common buff spells for party members.
- multi_summon = true
Accepts true or false, to enable/disable the availability of multiple summoned monsters for one mage. Default is true to allow 1 further summons per 7 skill points at 'Summon Might'.
- half_as_skilled = false
This is another difficulty related opion, this time however seriously affecting your savegame/char-build (thus use it with care). Accepts true, inverse or false, if true you will get the half amount of skill points (one skill point every second/even char-level).
- brilliant_regeneration = 0
Value range 1-3 representing a multiplier to change the behaviour of Brilliance skill.
This option experimentally has been added due to mod-incompatibility issues and is picking up Lady Femme's idea to change the meaning of the Brilliance skill from 'increasing your maximum mana' into 'increasing your mana regeneration'.
A value of 1.75 for example would change a Brilliance skill bonus of '+8% max mana' into '+14% mana regeneration'. As experienced recommented values around 1.5 until 2.0, while values above tend to be cheating more and more.
However remind perhaps that there are other ways too in DS2 to increase your mana regeneration - by items, buff spells, pet emanations or (indirectly) by a higher mana maximum. Also mana leeching bonuses can help to prevent mana lacks.
- run_speed_tweak = 100
Value range 25-250, to make your party members run faster/slower. The default is 100 for normal moving speed, higher values often make the gameplay subjectively easier.
- run_speed_by_dex = 100
Value range 15-150 or -1 to turn this feature off. Allows to change the influence of dexterity on moving speed. Note that this feature hasn't a linear behaviour (not to make run away ranged chars from other party members).
- run_speed_cargo_bonus = 10
Value range 1-30 or -1 to trun this feature off. Will define the variance of moving speed depending on the amount of items in your char's inventory. For example 10 means +5% speed for an empty inventory and -5% for when your char inventory is full.
Actually this feature isn't fully linear, so carrying eg. melee weapons will slow down a bit more than eg. mage armors/cloths do.
- game_speed = 100
Value range 15-150, low values will slow-down and high values will speed-up the game and all actions that happen (inclusive non-interactive video scences). A value of 100 means normal game speed.
More exterme values not recommended since not tested, specially take care on higher values due to the risk of time-critical processing errors.
CONTROLS / MESSAGES:
- nowinkeys = false
Accepts true or false, true will disable the Windows keys on your keyboard while playing, with false they will stay activated. This is actually a native option of DS2, but rarely documented.
- autocast_deny_key =
Allows you to specify a key to keep pressed in order to temporarily deny autocasting.
This option has no initial default, accepted key references are alt, ctrl RM, MM or combinations of it like shift+ctrl. Note that the mouse buttons will still perform the hard-coded functionality (RM: attack, MM: unlock camera) so their usage is limited.
- autocast_hurry_key =
Allows you to specify a key to press in order to execute auto-casting instantly when idle (instead of waiting 1-2s for possible/further enemies).
This option has no initial default, accepted key references are alt, ctrl RM, MM or combinations of it like shift+ctrl. Note that the mouse buttons will still perform the hard-coded functionality (RM: attack, MM: unlock camera) so their usage is limited.
- show_distance_key =
The distance towards an enemy will be reported when you right-click on an enemy while the specified key is pressed down.
This option has no initial default, accepted key references are alt, ctrl RM, MM or combinations of it like shift+ctrl. Note that the mouse buttons will still perform the hard-coded functionality (RM: attack, MM: unlock camera) so their usage is limited.
- party_selection_key =
Allows you to specify a key that needs to be pressed before mouse clicks on a party member really will be accepted (intended to avoid that you incidentally switch the focused member since the right mouse button is used for 'select member' and 'go to' command).
This option has no initial default, accepted key references are alt, ctrl, RM, MM or combinations of it like shift+ctrl. Note that the mouse buttons will still perform the hard-coded functionality (RM: attack, MM: unlock camera) so their usage is limited.
As exceptional value also '0' (zero) can be assigned so all party member will become inselectable from beginning - in this case however you only can cast manually heal and buff spells on other party members by left-clicking on their icon on the left of the screen.
- pet_selection_key =
Allows you to specify a key that needs to be pressed before mouse clicks on a pet really will be accepted (intended to avoid that you incidentally switch the focused member since the right mouse button is used for 'select member' and 'go to' command).
This option has no initial default, accepted key references are alt, ctrl, RM, MM or combinations of it like shift+ctrl. Note that the mouse buttons will still perform the hard-coded functionality (RM: attack, MM: unlock camera) so their usage is limited.
As exceptional value also '0' (zero) can be assigned so all pets will become inselectable from beginning - in this case however you only can cast manually heal and buff spells on other party members by left-clicking on their icon on the left of the screen.
Note, 'party_selection_key' will affect pets too as long as 'pet_selection_key' is not assigned.
- party_order_panel = true
Accepts true or false to toggle a little extra panel to display four additional party formation buttons on the bottom bar of the GUI. Default is true.
- party_rampage_free = false
Only affects the 'Rampage' mode of your party: If false the other party members will stay closer and perform more defensive, if true they are allowed to move further away in battles.
Better use false when you encounter party movement problems, specially in Multiplayer mode.
- loot_drop_message = false
Accepts true or false, whether or not to display also a text message when a set or unique item has dropped. Default is false for no message.
- show_chance_on_hit = false
For the BW addon/v2.3 only: Accepts true or false, whereof true will report the (summarized) chance for the 'Chance On Hit' bonus of an item when you equip it.
- show_chance_when_hit = false
For the BW addon/v2.3 only: Accepts true or false, whereof true will report the (summarized) chance for the 'Chance When Hit' bonus of an item when you equip it.
IN-GAME EFFECTS / INTERFACE LOOK:
- buff_effect_duration = -1
Value range 0-∞ (or -1 to ignore this option) to set a time limit (in seconds) for the visual long-term effect of buff spells. The initial cast effect will be displayed in all cases, also this setting doesn't impact the effect duration for the spell bonus.
- gui_bar_transparency = 0
Value range 0-100 to define the visual transparency of the bottom bar in the GUI. Default is 0 for no transparency, 100 would make this bar completely transparent (so you would only see the buttons without background).
- pet_aura_effect_mode = 4
This option will help you to suppress the visual effect of pet emanations.
Values from -4 until 4 are accepted with the following meaning:
0: No visual aura effects at all.
1: Effect for the pet only.
2: Effects for party members.
3: Effects for party members and their summons.
4: Effects for party members, their summons and loyal NPCs (default).
Now negative numbers (-1/-2/-3/-4) will keep the meaning as described above but the usual visual effect on the pet itself will be smaller (larger part will be disabled).
Note that this option works independing on the emanation bonuses, in all these cases the bonuses still affect party members, their summons and loyal NPCs.
- weapon_effect_mode = 3
This option allow you to deactivate visual related to weapons.
Values from -4 until 4 are accepted with the following meaning:
0: No effects for weapons, projectiles and damage impacts.
1: undefined (same as 2 currently).
2: No effects for projectiles.
3: Original weapon related effects are enabled (default).
4: Effect enabled for spears in the left hand.
Negative numbers (-1/-2/-3/-4) will disable effects for damage impacts too.
- damage_reflection_effect = true
Set this on false if you want to disable the visual effect caused by 'Physical Damage Reflected to Enemy' bonuses.
- quiver_mode = 4
Accepts a number from 0 until 4 to define when/where quivers will be added.
0: never, 1: bows only, 2: all ranged weapons expect of spears/javelins, 3/4: for all ranged weapons.
- pet_resize =
For the BW addon/v2.3 only. Will allow you to scale up/down the body sizes of pets. Accepts a list for example like pet_resize = light_naiad:0.7,fire_elemental:1.1 that would make all Light Naiads notably smaller and Fire Elementals a little bit larger.
- pet_dire_wolf_black = false
Set this on true to make your Dire Wolf look a lot darker.
- pet_mythrilhorn_golden = false
Accepts true or false. Picks up an modding idea by Volkan, here however the alternative texture for the Mythrilhorn pet is golden if you would set this option on true.
- ranged_nature_treeless = false
Accepts true or false. By default the visual effect of the Sharpshooter spell (for ranged and nature magic classed chars) attaches a shiny little tree on your char's back to symbolize camouflage, this looks quite funny however there is also a less spectacular but more sniper-like camouflage effect, true would enable it.
- multi_shot_force_sync = false
Usually for v2.2 only. Set this on true in case the center arrow with multi-shots would fly faster than all other projectiles.
SPECIAL:
- autocast_slots = 4
Value range 0-6, to define the amount of autocast slots (although the spellbook GUI won't change).
Default is 4, with 0 autocasting is disabled, and with 5 or 6 also reserve slots will be checked for possible spells to be auto-casted.
As special feature you also may have a second/separate
spellbook in your inventory for additional buff/curse/heals spells to be autocasted.
By default this feature is disabled and you have to enable it feature first e.g. with autocast_slots = 4,4 (so you would get 8 autocasting slots). Value range for the second/sperate spellbook is 0-10 (processing order: autocasting slots, reserve slots, slot 1-4).
All the spellbooks to support this expanded autocasting feature must have the same look, and there is even a tweak to get other colors than just grey.
- potion_drink_mode = 4
Value range 0-6, default is 4 to animate the focused hero always and all other party members depending on their life/mana state (with 6 it is as it was in DS1).
Like this you can customize the strategical gameplay impact of drinking potions (respectively of the delay it is causing).
- save_town_portal = false
Set this on true if you want the town portal (from the previous game session) to reopen automatically at session start. Although this feature is quite useful, it's not uncritical - thus please make a backup from your savegames first! If you face problems then better re-enter the region from the last teleporter station.
- recipe_transfer = false
For the BW addon/v2.3 only. Set this on true to transfer your reagent recipes from mercenary into veteran mode (resp. from veteran to elite mode) or to take them with you from one (custom) map onto another.
Please note, this is experimental and it's strongly recommended to make a manual backup from your savegames first.
IN-GAME OPTIONS
There are also some map related tweaks you can use while playing:
- Speed valves:
Next to the jail at Eirulan there are some valves to adjust and try out different speed settings, its state will be saved party-wise (while a manual setting for game_speed will affect all parties).
- Party conversation button:
In the room behind Telinu (the Smith) at Eirulan there is a button to avoid the elimination of 'banter' triggers (responsible for conversation between party members). Its state will be saved map-wise, so for the Broken World map there is similar button in the stump next to your stash at the Dryad outpost.
- Drovan's destiny:
Drovan is by default a melee and combat-magically skilled char (supported by his weapon enchantment buff spell). But if you prefer you also can get him as Fist-of-Stone fighter (melee with nature magic), to achieve this place 3 nature-magical spells close to the wheelbarrow in front of his home.
Remind that there is no spell-support for Fist-of-Stone in v2.2, thus better use this (former test) tweak with the addon/v2.3 only.
- Attacking ground position:
This is an auxiliary procedure to attack any ground position. While the strategic worth of this tweak is rather low, it's sometimes just funny to see a hero acting beyond the battle.
The following procedure only works in 'Wait' mode:
- Press and hold the 'hold ground' key (usually 'c', or as assigned in your game options).
- Left-click on any ground position.
- Stop holding the 'hold ground' key.
- Right-click to start the attack.
